Mulch, gravel, and other materials are priced by the cubic yard. To figure cubic yards for a rectangular area, use the table below:

DEPTH OF MATERIAL	Multiply LENGTH X WIDTH of area (in feet)	THEN MULTIPLY BY	THEN DIVIDE BY
for 1 inch		.083	27
for 2 inches		.165	27
for 3 inches		.25	27
for 4 inches		.33	27

The result after dividing by 27 is the number of cubic yards required.
